Ratcliffe College Primary Schools Cross Country Festival 2024
It is that time of year again when we look forward to the Ratcliffe College’s Primary Schools Cross Country Festival. A true celebration of running for children of all Primary ages from Y1 – Y6.
Here is all the information you will need to know regarding the Cross-Country Festival on Saturday 27th January 2024.
Race Times:
9:00am – Year 3 Boys
9.20am – Year 3 Girls
9.40am – Year 4 Boys
10:00am – Year 4 Girls
10.20am – Year 5 Boys
10.40am – Year 5 Girls
11:00am – Year 1 and 2 Fun Run
11.20am – Year 6 Boys
11.40am – Year 6 Girls
It is advisable that the children are on the Ratcliffe site and parked at least 30 minutes prior to their race start time. It is a very busy day of Sport at Ratcliffe, and parking is always very hectic so please ensure you leave enough time to get your children to the event without the need to rush.
On arrival, please look for Mr Monaghan, who will have already registered and collected the score cards ready for the races.
The first ten individual runners to finish in each race will get a medal.
The top team consisting of the first three runners from a school over the finish line will also receive a trophy for their school to commemorate their achievement.
All presentations will be at the end of the event once the final race has been completed and results collated.
The event should be completed no later than 12:15pm.
There will be refreshments available for purchase from the PA throughout the morning.
The course incorporates running around the Ratcliffe College grounds and across our main driveway twice which is marshalled and is very safe, but choice of footwear is important.
Only athletes in Year 6 can consider wearing running spikes but they must consider the tarmac element of the course.
Football boots can be worn by all but again you must consider the tarmac element of the course.
The grass is cut and maintained so the children are not running across open fields.
Race distances are as follows:
Year 5 and 6 – 2km approx.
Year 3 and 4 – 1.5km approx.
Fun run – 1km approx.
The fun run is a chance for the younger children to experience the fun of running. They will receive a little sweet treat at the finish line!!
We look forward to seeing you at Ratcliffe on Saturday 27th January for what will hopefully be a celebration of Cross Country and Children’s enjoyment of Sport.
Kind regards,
Miss Bhakta
