The mission of Bishop Ellis Catholic Voluntary Academy is that of Jesus Christ; To build a teaching and learning community where we show due regard for the development and understanding of the uniqueness and dignity of each person, based on the Gospel values of love, justice, caring for others, aspiring to be the best you can be, mutual respect, honesty, acceptance and forgiveness.
We will:
All around our school are symbols and signs of this mission to which the whole school community have contributed. Testament to this is our Millennium prayer – “Instead”. They all identify the values we promote together with the statement: “I have come in order that you may have life—life in all its fullness (John 10:10).” The child friendly version of John’s quote is “We Love, We Pray, We Learn, We Play.”
The environment provided for the children is focused, reassuring and as supportive as possible in order that the children are happy, willing to learn and sufficiently confident to demonstrate their independent learning. The children will need the support which can only come from consistency of approach.
A new millennium, a new start!
Lord, in our world we hope you will find: –
No guns, no war.
Instead people of peace.
No prejudice, no racism.
Instead people of respect.
No arguing, no bullying.
Instead people of self-control.
No vandalism, no pollution.
Instead people who care.
No loneliness, no broken hearts.
Instead people who share.
A new millennium, a new start!
Lord, let it be this that you find.
A new millennium, a new start!
Lord, in our school we hope you will find: –
No fighting, no bullying.
Instead everyone friends.
No selfishness, no spitefulness.
Instead everyone kind.
No laziness, no wasting time.
Instead everyone learning.
No bad manners, no rudeness.
Instead everyone polite.
No one lonely, no one left out.
Instead one happy family.
A new millennium, a new start!
Lord, let it be this that you find.
Amen.
A prayer of commitment for the new millennium composed by pupils of Bishop Ellis Catholic Voluntary Academy.
