Hello year 1!
Well you have made it- your final week of year 1!
Let's make this week the best one yet!
On Monday 6/7/2020, there is a going to be a Diocesan Mass held by Bishop Patrick for all students on the NDCYS Youtube channel. This will begin at 10.30am. It would be great if you could take part along with the children in school and hopefully many other Bishop Ellis children at home!
Have a great week everyone. We continue to miss you greatly and would love to see some of the things you are up to on DoJo. Finally, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer and we hope to be welcoming you back to Bishop Ellis (the new building!!!) in September.
I hope this finds you and your families well!
Home learning will look a bit different from now on for the year 1 children. This is because the provision for year 1 children is now in school as school is open to year 1 children, as explained by Mrs Melbourne and Mrs O' Hagan (Chair of Governors) in recent communication.
We understand that the children who have not returned to school still need to be accessing learning and provided with resources to do this, with parents support. Below you will find home learning grids which are in the style of homework grids used in KS1 which we are providing to replace the daily home learning.
There are 3 grids; Maths, English and RE/Topic. These activities are linked to some of the work we have been doing in school, are not compulsory/ all of them don't have to be completed and are for the year 1 children to access over the coming 4 weeks up until the end of term.
In addition to this, we still have our 'Basic Skills' section available on the year 1 home learning page, which includes ideas for activities linked to 'non-negotiable' skills for year 1 children. These are the skills that we see as vital to have at the end of year 1 to help children when they move to year 2.
Below you will find a link to a competition set by LTS Catering Services (our school dinner providers). The competition to Design a Burger... if you would like to get involved and enter, all of the information is in the attachment below. Good Luck!
Also remember that this week is week 3 of the Virtual Games. If you haven't submitted any scores yet, then you can catch up with all of the week's challenges and submit your scores to your child's class teacher by 22/06/2020. It would be great to see you getting involved!
Have a great week everyone.
