Liturgical Season: Ordinary Time
Wednesday 17th June 2020 - Saying ‘No’ to Good Things Can Be Easy
“No one serving in the army gets entangled in everyday affairs; the soldier’s aim is to please the enlisting officer”. 2 Timothy 2:4
Saint Paul uses an analogy concerning a soldier and an officer when writing to Timothy, a young disciple. When you know what your mission is, the boundaries are clear. An athlete has a specific role on their team and when they do it well their team can succeed. Focusing on Jesus’ words makes our mission clear. Living his words makes life worth living.
Prayer: Lord God, help me to discern my mission, my calling in life. Amen.
