We are continuing our work on Wind in the Willows, focusing this week on punctuating speech and writing a recount. We will be using Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of the book this week.
English Lesson 5
We would like you to have a go at the following comprehension activities. The answers are included in the booklet so you can see how you score.
This week we are going to be starting our unit on Measures and we will be looking at area.
Each lesson's worksheet has 3 sections - Blue, Gold and Purple. Have a go at your colour group's section.
In this lesson, we are going to be looking at Jesus choosing the people to work with him. Read through the scripture about Jesus choosing his apostles.
Think about these questions:
- How do you think the apostles felt when Jesus chose them to help him in his work?
- Why do you think he chose people to help him?
- What do you think the Good News is?
- How can we live our lives as apostles of Jesus?
Task: Complete one of the following tasks about how we can live out our lives as ‘apostles’ of Jesus.
In this lesson, we are going to be looking at the parish community and how people within the parish serve the community in church.
Task 1: Have a look at the St Theresa’s and Sacred Heart website to explore some of the parish groups: https://st-theresa-sacredheart.co.uk/category/parish-groups/
Task 2: Using the information sheet, read about the different roles in the church. Why do you think some people choose to do these jobs?
Task 3: Complete one of the following tasks creating a simple guide for the parish community including the different jobs that people might do.
This half term we are going to be looking at living things and their habitats in science. Work your way through the PowerPoint and then complete the following tasks:
Task 1: Create a poster about MRS GREN showing all the different life processes that living things need to stay alive.
Task 2: Using the information about the animals, sort them into a Venn diagram or Carroll diagram.
This week we are continuing our unit on aiming high. Look through the powerpoint and have a go at the activities.
In addition to reading a little every day we would like you to continue to practice the reading skills we have been discussing in school. Therefore each week we will be setting you a reading challenge. This involves reading a short text and answering the questions. The questions will focus on a particular reading skill each week.
NB: The answers are also part of the document this is so you can check to see if you were right after you have had a go by yourself.
We will be teaching spelling on the zoom calls every morning. Please find below a copy of the slides that we will be using if you want to go over the content again.
