Tuesday 5th May
Liturgical Season: Easter
Our Lady of Walsingham
“Whoever seeks my help there will not go away empty-handed.” Richeldis de Faverches
Walsingham has been a site of pilgrimage since Saxon times. Richeldis de Faverches was taken in a dream to the house where the Angel Gabriel visited Mary. After waking, she went about recreating the Nazareth house on her land in Norfolk. Since then, millions have made the journey to the shrine, many walking barefoot to remember the sacrifice on the Cross by going without the comfort of wearing shoes.
Prayer: O Mary, you are our mother, we desire ever to remain your devout children. Let us therefore feel the effects of your powerful intercession with Jesus Christ. O blessed Mary, mother of God, our Lady of Walsingham, intercede for us. Amen.
