Assessment of the safety of the playground, routes to the mobile classrooms and entrances to the school after school today revealed that access was extremely hazardous and potentially dangerous, with the snow turning to ice. The area would require substantial clearance throughout the day to ensure the safety of staff and children.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for ice tonight (Monday 11th December), with temperatures dropping to below -7 degrees and unlikely to reach above freezing throughout the day on Tuesday. Given these facts and that staff and children travelling from a distance could be put at risk, the decision has been taken to close the school for today. 

 

We apologise for the inconvenience but the health and safety of all at the school is paramount.
