Congratulations to our First Holy Communicants from St. Theresa’s/Sacred Heart and Divine Infant/St. Gregory parishes who had their big days last Sunday. Both celebrations were lovely and the children were very spiritual. The final celebration for all children who have made their First Holy Communion this year, and their families, is on Tuesday 5th July at 6pm in school.

Congratulations also to Leicester City Football Club for their amazing performance this year. They thoroughly deserve to be champions. We had a good celebration last Friday, allowing Mrs Preston our cook to share her joy and elation with a celebration dinner.

Fr. Keith’s funeral took place last Tuesday at St Theresa’s. It was wonderful service with the church bulging at the seams with all his friends and parishioners coming to pay their last respects. Our children made their contribution through their singing, serving, the presentation of the offertory gifts and their guard of honour for the entrance and exit of the coffin. They played out their roles excellently, showing great solemnity and respect. I am so proud of them.

The school council have put their heads together to think about how we can remember Fr. Keith. They asked for a Mass, which will be at 10:30 on Monday 20th June (parents/carers welcome). They have also made a display in the entrance hall to encourage us all to pray for him, and would like to buy a commemorative bench inscribed with some prayers and memories. Watch out for their fundraising event coming soon.

The cycle/scooter to school event was a great success and I would like to thank everyone for going above and beyond to help the children take part. I know that this was a challenge as many of our families live a distance from school and have very tight time schedules.

The next eco-school event will be to form a park and stride walking bus from Monday 6th June. We will encourage parents to park at the far end of the shopping centre and then walk as a group into school. The aim is to decrease the congestion around the school gates and create a safer environment for all our children and their families. Mrs Moreland will send out details soon.

Congratulations to Mrs Melbourne who had a beautiful baby girl on 10th May. The lucky girl arrived just in time to see West Ham’s last glorious match at Upton Park. How impressive is that!

FOBE

The bake-off was terrific again with some magnificent Olympic/sports-related offerings and everyone who came had a great time. We raised £140.

The next event is the Summer Fair on Saturday 18th June from 2:00-4:30. Thank you in anticipation of your donations on Friday (non-uniform, bring-a-gift day). We hope you will be able to join us for this fun event and/or help out on the day. See FOBE members.

Future meetings: Tuesday 7th June (staff room) & Monday 11th July (Britannia Inn, Queniborough), both at 7pm. All welcome and bring a friend or two.
