Homework

Homework expectations in year 6 are as follows:

  • 5 - 10 minutes of regular spelling practice. Practising every day will help you progress faster.
  • At least 20 minutes of reading, either independently or with an adult, every day. This is non-negotiable and we will be checking!
  • 5 - 10 minutes of regular number facts practice, e.g. times tables, division facts, number bonds. Practising every day will help you progress faster.
  • One extended piece of homework of your choice from the suggestions given, to be completed and handed in every Monday. The activities are all linked closely to work completed each week, or to prepare for work that will be completed the following week. This should take no more than 60 minutes.

This booklet includes all the homework tasks for the first half of the autumn term.  You should bring the booklet into school on Monday each week for your teacher to check.  Remember that if your homework is not completed on time, you will have to stay in on Friday lunchtime after you have eaten, in order to complete it.  If your homework is regularly late, e.g. three or more times in a row, you will miss your break.

Please make sure that your homework is completed neatly and that you take care over your work, checking it carefully.
