“Mary is the most beautiful flower ever seen in the spiritual world” Saint John Henry Newman
The rose is regarded as the queen of flowers and we know that goodness and holiness ‘flower’ in the saints. Mary, being the greatest and holiest of all the saints, shines as the fairest flower in God’s garden. She is also the greatest mystic of all time as she pondered all things in her heart and her delight was the will of God. Thus, Catholic call Mary the ‘Mystical Rose’.
Prayer: Mystical Rose, throughout centuries of devotion roses have been your symbol. They recall for us the blossom of your love. Help us when we see, smell and enjoy the gentle softness of a rose, to understand how close you are to us. Amen.
