Monday 8th  February

Spelling starter- Today, we would like you to complete the spelling Powerpoint at the top of the page (at the top of this page in the spelling section)

Outcome: Can I write a letter in character, choosing appropriate detail from my reading?

Task: Write a letter from Edek to Ruth from prison explaining what happened.

On Friday, we asked you to plan your letter from Edek to Ruth. Today, we would like you to use that plan to write your letter. Take another look at the letter below. This was written by a year 6 child last year. Be the teacher. Have they met the success criteria below? Then write your own letter. Can you meet the success criteria?

Success criteria

  • Write in the 1st person- I, my (you are Edek)
  • Write in the style of Edek- you need to sound like him and use words that he would use.
  • Describe what happened and show how you feel about this.
  • Use a semi-colon and colon correctly.
  • Use accurate sentence punctuation throughout. Remember that proper nouns need capital letters (Jan, Ruth, Bronia)
  • Choose 5 words from the statutory spelling list and try to include them in your writing- remember to spell them correctly!

When you finished, check your work against the success criteria and edit to make improvements.
