Dec-2019 School Council visit the New Build

It was an amazing experience visiting the new build. No one knew it was going to be so big and wonderful  with the huge windows that will allow the light to come in. We spotted builders using some of their  advanced machinery to cut metal pipes and also saw workers laying bricks. Furthermore, we also saw a bright yellow JCB moving heavy material. It was really cool!!!

We asked how our school will be eco-friendly and were told that they were going to install  red heating pipes that will run throughout the  building to keep us cozy during freezing weather. The window are doubled glazed and the walls have insulation in the cavities to keep the heat in but also keep us cool in summer. Interestingly, the lights will be on a sensor so will go off automatically if no one in is the room .

Looking Great in our Safety Gear

Here we are in brightly coloured jackets and hard hats. We also needed to wear safety goggles and gloves. Luckily, some of us wore wellies because it was very muddy outside due to the heavy rain.

Net Ball Court

This is the back view from the upper floor. Although it looks muddy now due to lots of vehicles passing through, when the work is finished this will be all gone and  part of this will become a netball pitch.

The School Hall

This gigantic space will become our school hall although a third of it will be used as the school kitchen area.

Keeping us Safe

We asked the question about safety during a fire since the building had two floors. The building will have a  new sprinkler system all around the school( see picture). This and the many 'Exit ' doors and 'fire walls' will keep us safe if their is a fire.

Going upstairs!

Here we are on our way up to the top floor where KS2 classrooms will be.The view from here was amazing. We looked out of the huge window  and we could see the old school and waved to children in our playground!

Skylight looking down into KS1

There will be a skylight to allow light and a view to the ground floor or upper floor. This will be absolutely  amazing when it will be finished .

Entrance to School

This will be the walkway from the main gate entrance to the new building. It looks a little muddy now but when it is finished it will be paved and lined with beautiful trees. We will have a little longer walk .
